A Steady Comeback The royal has been undertaking her own gradual return to public life after her cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy, recently giving her major oration since 2023, in which she talked about recognising the "discreet, frequently unseen labour of caregivers". Music and Opportunity Attendees entering the Abbey can listen to budding artists backed by the Future Talent charity, co-founded by the late Duchess of Kent to increase availability of music lessons. Carys Wood, aged 18, who performs on the trumpet and is from Pembrokeshire, has been supported by the trust, with funding assisting with instruments, tuition, and transportation expenses - and she said it was "incredible" to be performing at the evening's event. "Music can be very expensive," Carys said. She is now a student at the renowned conservatoire, and added that "everyone should have the opportunity" to hone their artistic talents. Generations Gathering Carys's 11-year-old sister, Eliza, who is a euphonium player, will also be at the Abbey. "I never imagined I would perform in front of so many notable figures," she said. Within the audience will be people from various age groups. That will encompass nine-year-old Saphia Turner, winner of a youth community award, who creates and sells art and completes fundraising tasks to generate funds for community pantries. Yuletide Atmosphere and Acts The Abbey has been festooned with specially made wreaths, with celebrity baker Mary Berry and floral designer Simon Lycett contributing to their design.
